Where Can I Study Abroad?
Hampden-Sydney College offers a variety of opportunities for students who wish to study abroad for a semester or a full year. H-SC approves over 100 foreign study programs in 25 countries. The courses are varied and allow you to earn credit hours that apply to your graduation requirements. The Office of International Studies has a variety of catalogs, brochures, and application materials, or you can do your own research on some of the web links provided.

May Term
Each year our own academic departments develop innovative May Term courses abroad. As a student, you can suggest possible options either to your professors or to the Director of International Studies. Your ideas are important and valuable to us. In 2007 students chose to study Tropical Biology in Costa Rica, learned about
History and Theater while traveling in Japan, and had the opportunity to
study Economics and History in France. In years past, students have studied ecology in Scotland, language and culture in Spain, Renaissance history, literature, and theatre in England, and the European Union in Belgium and France.
Applications and other required forms for May Term Abroad will be available on-line
in November. Completed forms and a $500 deposit are required by January 2009. For more information and a description of the 2009 May Term Abroad options
go to May Term Abroad 2009 or email mcooper@hsc.edu.
H-SC is a member of the consortium of six Virginia colleges offering a select group of students the opportunity of spending the summer studying at St. Anne’s College, University of Oxford in England. For more information on the
Virginia Program at Oxford contact professor Shirley Kagan at skagan@hsc.edu.
