Gentlemen:

Our 40th Class Reunion will be celebrated on Hampden-Sydney’s beautiful campus on Friday night, October 10th, 2008.  We will gather for cocktails and lots of memories at The Tiger Inn at 5:30 p.m. before our Reunion Dinner in the Chairman’s Room in Settle Hall (located behind Morton Hall; valet parking will be provided for your convenience).  And the campus is beautiful – you will enjoy seeing the new Tiger Inn (new since 1968) and the new Settle Hall, not to mention the Library, Gammon and other recent additions.
           
            Our class will join the 45th Class Reunion as guests of President and Mrs. Walter M. Bortz III in the Lewis C. Everett Stadium Lounge before the football game on Saturday vs. Emory & Henry College.  Special parking for our class will be provided in the Crawley Forum parking lot.  

            The Southside Club of the Hampden-Sydney College Alumni Association will host the golf competition on Friday for the benefit of the Annual Fund. Alumni and friends of the College are invited to participate in this team competition, to be played at The Manor Golf Course in Farmville.  Registration begins at 9:30 am, with a shotgun start at 11:00 am. The Thirtieth Annual Thompson Tennis Challenge will also be held on Friday, beginning at 1:00 pm at the Varsity Tennis Courts.  Register with the Alumni Office at (434) 223-6776.

            The cost of our reunion reception is $75 per person.  Included in this fee are our Friday dinner, Saturday lunch in Everett Stadium, class giveaways, and the post game party.  Our guest party band will be Otis Day and the Knights of Animal House fame.  You won’t want to miss it!  Please respond quickly and mail the Reunion Registration Form, along with your check or credit card information, to the Alumni Office.  Please note that the reunion registration deadline is Friday, October 3, 2008.
           
            Lodging reservations must be made directly with the hotels listed on the H-SC website at www.hsc.edu/visitors/, not with the Alumni Office.  Contact hotels early to assure that you get a room; they will fill up fast for this major event. 
           
            Our 40th reunion and Saturday’s Homecoming should not be missed.  It will be a terrific opportunity to renew old friendships and support the Tigers as they face Emory & Henry College.

P.S. Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Lucas ’59 have graciously donated a 1957 Ford Thunderbird convertible that will be raffled at half-time.  The car is older than our ‘63 class. At 61,000 actual miles, it is lower mileage than many of us. Its all original equipment is more than some of us can claim. So, buy a chance or two.
