HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (February 2, 2008)—Greensboro College recorded a pair of victories over the Hampden-Sydney baseball team Saturday afternoon as the Pride scored 4-2 and 4-0 victories over the Tigers at Yank Bernier Field.  In game one, the Tigers and Pride were tied at 2-2, but Greensboro scored two runs in the top of the eighth to earn the 4-2 victory.  In game two, Greensboro used two runs in the third and seventh inning to take a 4-0 win.  With the wins, Greensboro improves to 2-0 overall, while the Tigers drop to 2-0 on the season.

The Pride earned a pair of victories by their starting pitchers Saturday as senior Kit Mock worked all eight innings and allowed just one earned run on four hits, while striking out 11, in the 4-2 victory in the first game.  In the second game, Jordan Dorsett earned the victory as he worked five and one-third innings, giving up no runs on six hits to go with four strikeouts and one walk.

Greensboro jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning of game one, but the Tigers answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the first as junior shortstop Todd Harrell (Chesapeake, VA/Nansemond-Suffolk) score on a double by sophomore Ben Brawley (Leesburg, VA/Loudoun County).  In the top of the fourth inning, Greensboro would regain the lead, 2-1, on a Jacob Tomb single, but the Tigers answered as Ben Brawley scored in the bottom of the fourth.  Tied at 2-2, the Pride and Tigers went into extra innings.  In the top of the eighth, the Pride would score two runs which proved to be enough as they went on to the 4-2 victory.

Tiger starter Daniel Hadra (Mechanicsville, VA/Atlee) earned the no decision after working five innings in game one, giving up two runs on six hits, while striking out four.  Freshman Will Wiseman (Danville, VA/George Washington) took the loss for the Tigers as he worked three innings, giving up two runs on two hits.

In the second game, Hampden-Sydney and Greensboro went through two scoreless innings until Vince Grasso and Jeff Gregory scored to give the Pride a 2-0 advantage. The Pride would add to more in the top of the seventh inning, while holding the Tigers scoreless to earn the 4-0 victory.
