Hampden-Sydney starting pitcher Robbie Bailey (Richmond, VA/Hermitage) earned the complete-game victory for the Tigers.  The sophomore worked seven scoreless innings, scattering two hits, striking out four with no walks.  Austin Long took the loss for the Yellow Jackets, working two and two-thirds innings, giving up six runs on five hits and four walks.

The Tigers took an early lead against the Yellow Jackets, scoring one run in the bottom of the first inning as senior David Toney (Mechanicsville, VA/Lee-Davis) knocked in senior Todd Harrell (Chesapeake, VA/Nansemond-Suffolk) to give the Tigers the 1-0 lead.  Hampden-Sydney would add five more runs in the bottom of the third inning to take a 6-0 lead.  The Tigers added one more in the bottom of the fifth, but it was not needed as the Tigers claimed the 7-0 win.

Sophomore Ben Brawley (Leesburg, VA/Loudoun County) led the Tigers at the plate as he went 3-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored, while Louis Mari (Baltimore, MD/St. Paul's) went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run scored. Also having a solid day was freshman Zach Harrelson (Danville, VA/George Washington) at 2-for-2 with one RBI and one run scored, while sophomore Nick Price (Sterling, VA/Potomac Falls) went 2-for-3 with one run scored.

The Hampden-Sydney baseball team will return to action on Saturday, March 1, as the Tigers will travel to Norfolk, VA to take on Virginia Wesleyan in an ODAC doubleheader.  First pitch for Saturday's game is scheduled for 12:00 pm.
