THREE BASKETBALL TIGERS GARNER ALL-ODAC ACCOLADES

SALEM, VA (February 28, 2008)—Three members of the Hampden-Sydney basketball team earned all-conference accolades this week at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament in Salem, VA.  The teams were announced at the annual banquet hosted by the Salem Rotary Club.

Senior Drew Prehmus (Atlanta, GA/Wesleyan School) earned the 2007-2008 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year as announced and voted on by the Sports Information Directors of the conference.  The English major has a 3.84 grade-point-average and is averaging 12.6 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.  Prehmus earned All-ODAC honorable mention honors for the fourth consecutive season as the senior has scored 1,305 career points.

Sophomore Turner King (Roanoke, VA/Roanoke Catholic) earned first team All-ODAC honors, averaging 19.3 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.  King is third in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference in free throw shooting percentage at 84.0 percent, while his 39.4 percent shooting from three point range ranks 12th in the conference.

Senior Troy Kaase (Roanoke, VA/Cave Spring) earned second team All-ODAC honors as he is averaging 15.6 points per game and team-leading 7.1 rebounds per contest on the season.  Kaase surpassed the 1,000 point mark this season against Washington and Lee on Sunday, January 27.  For his career, the senior has scored 1,141 points.

Guilford's Ben Strong earned Player of the Year honors, while W&L's Adam Hutchinson was named Coach of the Year.  Randolph-Macon's Jordan Brown earned Rookie of the Year honors, and Drew Prehmus was the Scholar-Athlete of the Year.  The All-Conference honors are as follows:
