MIKE BLAINE JOINS TIGER BASKETBALL STAFF

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (July 5, 2007)—Hampden-Sydney College Head Basketball Coach Bubba Smith announced the addition of Mike Blaine to the Tiger basketball coaching staff.  Blaine joins the Hampden-Sydney basketball program from Radford University, where he served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator.

“We are very excited to welcome Mike to the Hampden-Sydney College and basketball family,” stated Smith.  “Mike brings valuable knowledge to our program and will be an asset to our program.  He has playing experience at the Division III level and has experience as a Division I assistant coach, making him a valuable addition to the Hampden-Sydney basketball program." 

Blaine was a four-year member of the Johns Hopkins University basketball program, ranking fifth in school history in career field goal percentage and tenth in career blocked shots.  A 2003 graduate, Blaine was a member of the Blue Jays basketball teams that posted a 64-37 overall record.

Blaine began his coaching career as Director of Men’s Basketball Operations at James Madison University in 2003.  In 2004, Blaine served as Director of Basketball Operations at the United States Military Academy for two seasons.  During the 2006-2007 season, Blaine served as an Assistant Coach at Radford University.

A native of Washington, D.C., Blaine currently resides in Farmville.
