TIGER HARRIERS RUN AT ASICS COLLEGIATE INVITATIONAL

LYNCHBURG, VA (March 29, 2008)—Hampden-Sydney's cross country team competed again this past weekend at the Asics Collegiate Invitational hosted by Liberty University, the second of three events on the Tigers' spring competition schedule. Both Tigers that competed turned in strong performances in the 5000m.

Junior captain George Heeschen (Earlysville, VA/Albemarle) recorded an eighth place finish with a time of 16:37.27, a season and personal best time for him. Sophomore Robert Melvin (Alexandria, VA/Mount Vernon) crossed the line two places behind his teammate, notching a tenth place finish and a time of 16:47.64.

The team will continue to train over the next two weeks before closing out their season on Saturday, April 12 at the Lynchburg Track and Field Classic held at Lynchburg College.
