FIVE XC TIGERS POST PERSONAL BESTS AT TRIBE OPEN

WILLIAMSBURG, VA (October 13, 2007)—Hampden-Sydney junior George Heeschen (Earlysville, VA/Albemarle) led a host of Tigers who registered personal records with a personal-best time of 27:56 at the 2007 Tribe Open hosted by The College of William and Mary last Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Robert Melvin (Alexandria, VA/Mount Vernon) was the second Tiger to finish, and also posted a personal record of 29:40.

Hampden-Sydney's next three finishers continued the trend, all recording career-best times. Daniel Isaacs (Troutville, VA/Lord Botetourt) logged a PR of 31:40, while David Herzog (Bristol, TN/Tennessee) and Kent Wydner (Brookneal, VA/William Campbell) recorded personal-best times of 33:04 and 34:53, respectively.

Joe Stiles (Southbury, CT/Pomperaug), with a time of 34:59, and Jacob Newton (Chester, VA/Thomas Dale), 36:04, rounded out the Hampden-Sydney finishers.

The Tigers will enjoy an off-week before gearing up for the ODAC Championship Meet in Lexington, Virginia on Oct. 27. The meet is scheduled to start at 12 pm.
