FOOTBALL TIGERS ADD 35+ NEW NAMES TO 2007 ROSTER
HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA
(May 24, 2007)—Hampden-Sydney College head football coach Marty Favret has
released the list of recruits set to report for the 2007 season. The
Tigers will add 37 new faces to the returning roster as the squad looks to
make a run at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship. In order to comply with
NCAA rules, the list of recruits includes only those student-athletes who
have made deposits on tuition and are set to report in August for football
camp and classes. The list includes players from five states, including
North Carolina, Texas, Florida, and Georgia, while 30 players are in-state
recruits.
“We're thrilled with the
incoming recruiting class,” said Favret.
“In particular, we addressed some depth concerns in both the
secondary and at running back. I feel like the class of 2011 has a
chance to be one of our best and will certainly look good opening up the
new stadium this fall.”
The Hampden-Sydney
football team returns 14 starters (seven offense/seven defense) from a 2006
team that finished 4-6 overall and 4-2 in the ODAC, earning a share of
second place in the conference.
