HENSON NAMED ODAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

SALEM, VA (September 17, 2007)—Hampden-Sydney College senior linebacker Mark Henson (Virginia Beach, VA/Ocean Lakes) has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in Saturday’s, 35-33, win over King's College.  The honor is the first of Henson’s career. 

Henson recorded a career-high 15 total tackles on the afternoon, including five solo stops.  Henson was in on two tackles-for-loss and forced one fumble.  On the season, Henson leads the Tiger defense with 33 total tackles to go with one interception and two forced fumbles. 

Henson and the rest of the Tigers are on the road this Saturday, September 22, as Hampden-Sydney will open the ODAC portion of the season at Guilford College.  The Quakers enter play with a 3-0 overall record.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
