SIMPSON HONORED AS ODAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

SALEM, VA (September 24, 2007)—Hampden-Sydney College junior running back Josh Simpson (Richmond, VA/Mills Godwin) has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in Saturday’s, 56-49, victory over Guilford College.  The honor is Simpson's first of the season and the third of his career. 

Simpson racked up 293 total yards of offense on the evening and set an Old Dominion Athletic Conference record with seven touchdowns.  On the ground, Simpson rushed for 207 yards on 36 carries, while his six rushing touchdowns also set an ODAC record.  Simpson caught seven passes for 86 yards and a touchdown.  His 42 total points set a conference and school record for points scored in a single game.

Hampden-Sydney will welcome Bridgewater College to Everett Stadium this Saturday, September 29, for Family Weekend.  The Tigers are atop the ODAC standings with a 3-1 overall record and 1-0 mark in the conference.  The Eagles enter play with a 4-0 record with Saturday's game marking their first conference game.  Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
