SALEM, VA (October 1, 2007)—For the second consecutive week, Hampden-Sydney junior running back Josh Simpson (Richmond, VA/Mills Godwin) has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week.  Simpson earns the honor following his performance in Saturday’s, 38-31, victory over Bridgewater College, marking the first time Hampden-Sydney had beaten Bridgewater since 1998.  The honor is Simpson's second of the season and the fourth of his career.

Simpson tallied 217 total yards of offense on the afternoon, scoring four touchdowns.  On the ground, Simpson rushed for 138 yards on 32 carries, scoring three rushing touchdowns.  Simpson caught seven passes for 79 yards and a touchdown.  Playing in just two games this season, Simpson has 345 yards rushing, 165 yards receiving, and 11 touchdowns.

Hampden-Sydney will travel to Emory and Henry College this Saturday, October 6, to take on the Wasps.  The Tigers are atop the ODAC standings with a 4-1 overall record and 2-0 mark in the conference.  The Wasps enter play with a 3-1 record with Saturday's game marking their first conference game.  Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
