SMITH NAMED ODAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

SALEM, VA (October 22, 2007)—Hampden-Sydney senior wide receiver and captain Drew Smith (Richmond, VA/Mills Godwin) has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week.  Smith earns the honor following his performance in Saturday’s, 49-39, victory over Catholic University at Cardinal Stadium in Washington, D.C..  The honor is Smith's first of the season and his career.

In the Tiger's win over Catholic, Smith caught 11 passes for 210 yards and two touchdowns.  Smith's 210 receiving yards were just 15 shy of breaking Conrad Singh's single-game record.  On the season, Smith has 80 catches for 1184 yards and eight scores.  Smith is currently ranked in the top-three in the nation in receiving yards, receiving yards per game, and receptions per game.

Hampden-Sydney will enjoy a week off before hosting Huntingdon College on Saturday, November 3, at Everett Stadium for Hall of Fame Weekend.  The Tigers are 6-2 overall and 4-1 in the conference.  Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
