SIMPSON EARNS ODAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONOR AGAIN SALEM, VA (November 11, 2007)—For the second consecutive week and fourth time this season, Hampden-Sydney junior running back Josh Simpson (Richmond, VA/Mills Godwin) has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week. Simpson earns the honor following his performance in Saturday’s, 31-13, victory over Randolph-Macon College, securing the Tigers first ODAC Championship since 1987. The honor is Simpson's fourth of the season and the sixth of his career. Simpson tallied 232 yards of total offense on the afternoon, leading the team in rushing and scoring with three total touchdowns. On the ground, Simpson rushed for 169 yards on 40 carries, scoring two rushing touchdowns. He also caught eight passes for 63 yards and one score. With Saturday's output, Simpson set Hampden-Sydney and ODAC records for rushing touchdowns in a single season (21) and points in a single season (164). Simpson is already the school and conference record holder with 318 career points. Simpson also broke the 1,000 yard rushing mark as he has rushed for 1,014 yards in just seven games. Hampden-Sydney will travel to Dover, DE this Saturday, November 17, to take on the Wolverines of Wesley College in the opening round of the NCAA Division III playoffs.
