Michael Szemborski is in his fourth season as an assistant coach on Marty
Favret’s staff. He will once again be working with the Tiger running backs in
2007. In addition, Szemborski was promoted this past spring to Strength and
Conditioning Coordinater for the Tiger football team.
In addition to working with the Tiger football program,
Szemborski has interned with the University of Maryland football team over the
past three summers assisting with the Terrapins off season strength and
conditioning program. In the summer of 2006, he logged over 400 hours with the
department and was primarily responsible for working with the football team, but
had expanded duties with the volleyball, basketball and softball teams. His
duties included assisting players in the weight room, running players for
conditioning, and assisting in seven-on-seven passing drills three days a week.
Szemborski played two years of varsity football at Bishop Ireton High School
in Alexandria, Va., and found playing time at wide reciever, linebacker, kicker
and punter. Szemborski graduated from Longwood University with a degree in
Kinesiology with a specialty in Exercise Science. Szemborski currently resides
in Farmville, Va.
