THREE TIGERS EARN ALL-ODAC GOLF ACCOLADES

(April 21, 2008) SALEM, VA - Three members of the Hampden-Sydney golf team earned All-ODAC honors as announced by the conference office during the 2008 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Golf Championships at Poplar Grove Golf Course in Amherst, VA. Earning first-team honors were seniors Nick Combs and Bob Boykin. Senior Rob Shrader also earned All-ODAC honors on the honorable mention team. Washington and Lee's Nathaniel James was named the ODAC Golfer of the Year and the ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete of the Year as the senior won medalist honors at the 2008 ODAC Championships, finishing at a three-day total of 222. The Generals' Gavin Colliton was named Coach of the Year, while Randolph-Macon's Michael Shrader was the Rookie of the Year.

TIGER GOLFERS FINISH THIRD AT ODAC CHAMPIONSHIPS

(April 21, 2008) AMHERST, VA - Hampden-Sydney's golf team finished in third-place at the 2008 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship at the Poplar Grove Golf Course in Amherst, VA. On the weekend, the Tigers recorded a three-day total of 929 after rounds of 310, 318, and 301. Washington and Lee's Nathaniel James won medalist honors, finishing two strokes ahead of second-place at 222 with rounds of 75, 70, and 77. Washington and Lee was crowned 2008 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Champions with a score of 909, securing a spot in the national tournament at Chateau Elan Resort in Braselton, GA. Pacing the Hampden-Sydney golf team was junior Richard Adams as he finished in ninth-place individually at 230 with rounds of 81, 76, and 73.

TIGER GOLFERS FINISH TIED FOR 14TH-PLACE AT CAMP LEJUNE

(March 30, 2008) CAMP LEJUNE, NC - Hampden-Sydney's golf team finished tied for 14th-place in the gold course division at the Camp LeJune Intercollegiate at the Paradise Point Golf Course in Camp LeJune, NC. The Tigers were among the top 16 teams after the first two rounds and were selected to participate in the gold course division on Sunday. The bottom 16 teams played in the scarlet course division on the final day. Methodist's Nick Bova won medalist honors, finishing four strokes ahead of second-place at 210 with rounds of 66, 69, and 75. Methodist won the team competition of the gold course division with a score of 859, placing four individuals in the top ten individually. Hampden-Sydney was paced by a pair of seniors that finished tied for 48th-place as Bob Boykin and Nick Combs shot a three-day total of 230 with rounds of 70-79-81 and 71-81-78 respectively.

TIGER GOLFERS HAVE GOOD SHOWING AGAINST SOME OF THE NATION'S ELITE, PLACE TENTH AT JEKYLL ISLAND COLLEGIATE

(March 23, 2008) JEKYLL ISLAND, VA - The Hampden-Sydney golf team recorded rounds of 306, 307, and 306 for a three-day total of 919 to finish tied for tenth place at the 6521-yard, Par 72, Oleander Course in Jekyll Island, GA. Senior Bob Boykin paced the Tigers by tying for 27th-place with a three-day total of 227 after rounds of 76, 75, and 76. Methodist's Nick Bova won medalist honors at five under par, four strokes ahead of the second place finisher, while Methodist won the team competition with a score of 871.
