TIGER GOLFERS FINISH NINTH AT PINE NEEDLES INTERCOLLEGIATE

SOUTHERN PINES, NC (February 26, 2008) -- The Hampden-Sydney golf team recorded a two-day total of 617 to finish in ninth-place at the Pine Needles Intercollegiate at the Pine Needles Country Club in Southern Pines, NC.  Hampden-Sydney was paced by freshman Chason Trahan (Charlotte, NC/South Mecklenberg)  as he had rounds of 76 and 75 to finish with a two-day total of 151 which tied for 18th individually.

A pair of Tigers, senior Rob Shrader (Midlothian, VA/Midlothian) and junior Richard Adams (Great Falls, VA/Heights School), finished tied for 32nd at 155 with rounds of 74-81 and 76-79 respectively.   Senior Bob Boykin (Virginia Beach, VA/Cox) finished 35th at 157 after rounds of 79 and 78, while senior Nick Combs (Newport News,VA/Menchville) wrapped up scoring for the Tigers as finished tied for 43rd with a score of 161 (78-83).

Guilford's Peter Latimer won medalist honors, finishing at one over par with a 143 (71-72).  Belmont Abbey won the team competition with a score of 591.  Guilford finished second at 601, followed by Cape Fear Community College (604), Emory (608), Averett (610), Wesley (612),  Wingate (615), Greensboro (616), Hampden-Sydney (617), and Bridgewater (653).
