TIGER GOLFERS HAVE GOOD SHOWING AGAINST SOME OF THE NATION'S ELITE, PLACE TENTH AT JEKYLL ISLAND COLLEGIATE JEKYLL ISLAND, GA (March 23, 2008) -- The Hampden-Sydney golf team recorded rounds of 306, 307, and 306 for a three-day total of 919 to finish tied for tenth place at the 6521-yard, Par 72, Oleander Course in Jekyll Island, GA. Senior Bob Boykin (Virginia Beach, VA/Cox) paced the Tigers by tying for 27th place with a three-day total of 227 after rounds of 76, 75, and 76. Following Boykin, seniors Nick Combs (Newport News,VA/Menchville) and Rob Shrader (Midlothian, VA/Midlothian) finished tied for 46th at 230 with rounds of 73-79-78 and 76-74-80 respectively. Junior Richard Adams (Great Falls, VA/Heights School) finished tied for 75th place with a three-day total of 237 after rounds of 81, 80, and 76. Freshman Chason Trahan (Charlotte, NC/South Mecklenberg) wrapped up scoring for the Tigers as finished at 239 (84-78-77), finishing tied for 91st overall.Methodist's Nick Bova won medalist honors at five under par, four strokes ahead of the second place finisher. Methodist won the team competition with a score of 871, placing three individuals in the top-five. Huntingdon finished second at 886, followed by Oglethorpe (899), Illinois Wesleyan (901), LaGrange (906), St. John Fisher (909), Emory (909), Centre (910), and Washington and Lee (913).
