TIGER GOLFERS FINISH THIRD AT ODAC CHAMPIONSHIPS AMHERST, VA (April 21, 2008)—Hampden-Sydney's golf team finished in third-place at the 2008 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship at the Poplar Grove Golf Course in Amherst, VA. On the weekend, the Tigers recorded a three-day total of 929 after rounds of 310, 318, and 301. Pacing the Hampden-Sydney golf team was junior Richard Adams (Great Falls, VA/Heights School) as he finished in ninth-place individually at 230 with rounds of 81, 76, and 73. Senior Nick Combs (Newport News,VA/Menchville) finished tied for 11th-place after recording a three-day total of 232 with rounds of 77, 83, and 72 , while senior Bob Boykin (Virginia Beach, VA/Cox) finished 14th individually at 235 with rounds of 75, 83, and 77. Freshman Chason Trahan (Charlotte, NC/South Mecklenberg) finished tied for 15th-place after rounds of 79, 77, 80 for a three-day total of 236. Wrapping up scoring for the Tigers was senior Rob Shrader (Midlothian, VA/Midlothian) as he finished with a three-day total of 240 (79-82-79) to finish tied for 23rd-place individually.Washington and Lee's Nathaniel James won medalist honors, finishing two strokes ahead of second-place at 222 with rounds of 75, 70, and 77. Washington and Lee was crowned 2008 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Champions with a score of 909, securing a spot in the national tournament at Chateau Elan Resort in Braselton, GA. Guilford finished in second place at 919, followed by Hampden-Sydney (929), Randolph-Macon (947), Lynchburg (948), Roanoke (950), Bridgewater (952), Virginia Wesleyan (975), and Emory and Henry (1,144). -www.hsc.edu/athletics- |
