HAMPDEN-SYDNEY GOLFERS WIN TED KELLER INVITATIONAL GLEN ALLEN, VA (September 17, 2007) -- The Hampden-Sydney golf team shot a 292 on the second day of the 36-hole Ted Keller Invitational, securing the Tigers' first-place finish in the team competition. Hampden-Sydney was paced by senior Nick Combs (Newport News,VA/Menchville) and junior Richard Adams (Great Falls, VA/Heights School) as both shot rounds of 75 and 72 for a score of 147, finishing tied for fourth. Senior Bob Boykin (Virginia Beach, VA/Cox) finished sixth for the Tigers with a score of 149 (76-73), while freshman Chason Trahan (Charlotte, NC/South Mecklenberg) wrapped up scoring with a two-day total of 154 (79-75), finishing tied for 15th. Randolph-Macon's Zach Wehrman won medalist honors, finishing at par with a 144 (74-70). Hampden-Sydney won the team competition with a score of 597. Wesley finished second at 611, followed by Washington and Lee (614), Randolph-Macon (616), Bridgewater (617), Christopher Newport (620), Franklin and Marshall (625), McDaniel (634), Virginia Wesleyan (635), and Roanoke (645) rounding out the top ten. -www.hsc.edu/athletics- |
