TIGER GOLFERS FINISH TIED FOR 14TH AT GREENSBORO INVITATIONAL

GREENSBORO, NC (October 2, 2007) -- The Hampden-Sydney golf team recorded a two-day total of 637 to finished tied for 14th at the Greensboro Invitational at the Bryan Park Champions Course.  The Tigers was paced by senior Nick Combs (Newport News,VA/Menchville) as he shot a two-day total of 156 (82-74) to finish tied for 40th individually.

Freshman Nick Stubbe (Richmond, VA/Mills Godwin) finished tied for 52nd after recording a score of 158 with rounds of 80 and 78.  Freshman Chason Trahan (Charlotte, NC/South Mecklenberg) finished tied for 64th with a score of 160 (78-82), while junior Richard Adams (Great Falls, VA/Heights School) shot a two-day total of 165 (83-82), finishing 72nd overall.  Senior Bob Boykin (Virginia Beach, VA/Cox) wrapped up scoring for the Tigers as finished tied for 73rd with a score of 166 (81-85).

Methodist's Nick Bova won medalist honors, finishing at nine under par with a 135 (69-66).  Methodist won the team competition with a score of 579.  Guilford finished second at 594, followed by Oglethorpe (595), Huntingdon (601), Washington and Jefferson (613), Emory (614), LaGrange (614), Randolph-Macon (616), Washington and Lee (618), and Averett (619) rounding out the top ten.
