THREE TIGERS EARN ALL-ODAC GOLF ACCOLADES

SALEM, VA (April 21, 2008)-Three members of the Hampden-Sydney golf team earned All-ODAC honors as announced by the conference office during the 2008 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Golf Championships at Poplar Grove Golf Course in Amherst, VA.  Earning first-team honors were seniors Nick Combs (Newport News,VA/Menchville) and Bob Boykin (Virginia Beach, VA/Cox).  Senior Rob Shrader (Midlothian, VA/Midlothian) also earned All-ODAC honors on the honorable mention team.

Combs earns first-team all-conference honors after leading the Tiger golf team with a 75.9 stroke average over 22 rounds of golf.  The senior's top finish was third-place at the Tom O'Briant Invitational in Greensboro, NC at which he shot a season-low round of 69.  Combs recorded two top-five finishes and three top-ten finishes.  Combs earns first-team honors after being named to the honorable mention team in 2007.

Boykin earns first-team all-conference honors after finishing second on the Hampden-Sydney golf team with a 76.0 stroke average over 22 rounds of golf.  Boykin won medalist honors at the Virginia State Intercollegiate, shooting a season-low 67 to help place the Tigers in second place.  The senior recorded two top-five finishes and three top-ten finishes.  Boykin earns first honors after being named to the first-team in 2007.

Shrader earns honorable mention honors after finishing the season with a 78.4 stroke average over 16 rounds of golf.  The senior fired a season-low 69 in the opening round of the Camp LeJune Intercollegiate.  Shrader earns honorable mention honors after being named the Sportmanship Award Winner in 2007.

Washington and Lee's Nathaniel James was named the ODAC Golfer of the Year and the ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete of the Year as the senior won medalist honors at the 2008 ODAC Championships, finishing at a three-day total of 222.  The Generals'  Gavin Colliton was named Coach of the Year, while Randolph-Macon's Michael Shrader was the Rookie of the Year.  Guilford's Brian Creghan and Bridgewater's Adam Rhodes were the Sportsmen of the Year.
