EIGHT LACROSSE TIGERS EARN ALL-ODAC HONORS SALEM, VA (May 9, 2009) – Eight members of the Hampden-Sydney lacrosse team earned all-conference accolades this week as voted on by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference lacrosse coaches. The honors follow another successful Tiger lacrosse season in which Hampden-Sydney posted a 12-3 overall record and appeared in the ODAC Tournament semifinals. The Tigers were ranked in the Top 20 nationally all season long and earned a share of the conference top spot during the regular-season. Earning first team honors for the Tigers were senior Ryan Harrington (Dallas, TX/Plano) and juniors Colin Dunn (Chevy Chase, MD/Trinity Pawling) and Alex Pritzlaff (Castle Rock, CO/Kent Denver). Harrington earns the first team nod after leading the team with 34 goals on the season, while also dishing out nine assists. Colin Dunn once again proved to be one of the best long-stick midfielders in the nation as he scored five goals, dished out three assists, and grabbed 88 ground balls. Pritzlaff started 13 games for the Tiger defense, continually shutting down the opponents best offensive threat. The honor marks the third consecutive season in which Dunn has been a first team selection, while it was the first All-ODAC honor for Harrington and Pritzlaff. Earning second team accolades were seniors Thomas Jennings (Murfreesboro, TN/Webb School) and William Shell (Alexandria, VA/St. Stephen's) and junior Ian York (Charlottesville, VA/St. Anne's-Belfield). Jennings wraps up a successful Hampden-Sydney career as the three-time All-ODAC performer scored 28 goals and recorded 11 assists during his senior season. William Shell also wraps up a successful career as the versatile player notched 25 goals and produced 12 assists. York helped lead a very successful Tiger defense as he, and the Hampden-Sydney defenders, held some of the most prolific goal scorers in the nation to season-low performances. Rounding out the Tiger All-ODAC performers was senior Scott Russell (Darien, CT/Darien) and junior Kelly Mattie (Charlottesville, VA/St. Anne's-Belfield), earning honorable mention All-ODAC honors. Russell posted a 12-3 record in goal for the Tigers, recording a 6.59 goals-against-average and a .629 save percentage. At attack, Mattie scored 28 goals and dished out a team-high 13 assists. Roanoke's Jon Mason earned Player of the Year honors, while the Maroons' Pat March was named Rookie of the Year. Roanoke completed the sweep of post-season superlatives as Bill Pilat was named Coach of the Year and Brendan Moore was Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
