H-SC LAX PLACES SEVEN ON ALL-CONFERENCE SQUAD

Seniors Colin Dunn and Alex Pritzlaff garner ODAC first team nods

(May 8, 2008) SALEM, VA - Following a roller coaster season on the turf, seven Hampden-Sydney Lacrosse Tigers were named to the 2008 Old Dominion Athletic Conference all-league teams. The Tigers placed two players, senior captain Colin Dunn (Chevy Chase, MD/Trinity Pawling) and senior Alex Pritzlaff (Castle Rock, CO/Kent Denver), on the All-ODAC first team. Senior defenseman Ian York (Charlottesville, VA/St. Anne's-Belfield) earned second team recognition while teammates Doug Carpenter (Baltimore, MD/St. Paul's), Kyle Jett (Suffolk, VA/Nanesmond Suffolk), Kyle Frazier (Forest, VA/Virginia Episcopal) and Will Ashwell (Warrenton, VA/Notre Dame Academy) rounded out Hampden-Sydney's all-conference honorees with honorable mention selections.

Picking up his fourth first team All-ODAC award, Dunn enjoyed another excellent campaign in his last wearing the garnet and grey. Dunn tied a career-high in goals (5) while setting a new career-best with four assists and leading the team in ground balls, scooping 66 on the year. Dunn was instrumental in leading the Tigers to a 13-12, overtime victory over rival Roanoke College, scoring the game-winner in the extra session and notching three goals and one assist on the afternoon.

Pritzlaff earned his second consecutive first team honor. As one of only two Tigers to start every game in 2008, Pritzlaff was a consistent force on defense, picking up 46 ground balls and contributed one goal on the season .

Second-teamer York finished off his college career in style, accumulating his second-straight second team All-ODAC nod. York improved on his career-best numbers from one year ago, scooping a career-high 35 ground balls and registering two points courtesy of two assists.

Carpenter, Jett, Frazier and Ashwell all secured honorable mention recognition for their outstanding play during the 2008 campaign. Carpenter and Jett spearheaded the Hampden-Sydney attack all season and finished ranked first and second, respectively, on the squad in goals and points. Carpenter tallied 24 goals and eight assists accounting for his team-high 32 points while Jett managed 23 goals and four assists for 27 total points.

Completing the list of all-conference Tigers were seniors Frazier and Ashwell. From his defensive midfield position, Frazier served as the physical leader of the team in addition to scoring two goals, dishing one assist and picking up 42 ground balls, fourth-best on the team. Ashwell completed his Hampden-Sydney career with the honorable mention selection after scoring one goal and recording 19 ground balls
