LAX SENIORS DUNN AND PRITZLAFF NAMED MEN'S LAX ALL-STATE

(June 5, 2008) ASHLAND, VA - Hampden-Sydney senior defensemen Colin Dunn (Chevy Chase, MD/Trinity Pawling) and Alex Pritzlaff (Castle Rock, CO/Kent Denver) have both been named first team All-State by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID), as the organization announced its 2008 All-State team on Thursday afternoon. Earlier in the spring, both Dunn and Pritzlaff were also tabbed first team All-ODAC, capping a stellar year for each student-athlete.

Dunn, a four-time first team All-ODAC selection, enjoyed another excellent campaign in his last wearing the garnet and grey. Dunn tied a career-high in goals (5) while setting a new career-best with four assists and leading the team in ground balls, scooping 66 on the year. Dunn was instrumental in leading the Tigers to a 13-12, overtime victory over rival Roanoke College, scoring the game-winner in the extra session and notching three goals and one assist on the afternoon.

Pritzlaff, who earned his second consecutive first team All-ODAC honor in May, was one of only two Tigers to start every game in 2008. Pritzlaff was a consistent force on defense, picking up 46 ground balls and contributing one goal on the season.

Lynchburg College senior goalkeeper Garrett Curran was named the 2008 VaSID Player of the Year, Virginia Wesleyan head coach J.P. Stewart snagged Coach of the Year honors and Roanoke freshman attackman Matt Quinton earned Rookie of the Year accolades.
