LAX TIGERS PICKED FOURTH IN ODAC PRESEASON POLL (February 15, 2008) SALEM, VA - Hampden-Sydney's lacrosse team was selected fourth in the 2008 ODAC Men's Lacrosse Preseason Poll, which was released Friday afternoon. The Tigers, who return five starters to the field from a 12-3 squad in 2007, once again figure to be in the thick of the ODAC title chase come late April. Roanoke College, the defending ODAC Champion, picked up four first place selections and 45 total votes as the Maroons headline the tight 2008 poll. Lynchburg College sits just two votes shy of Roanoke, having earned 43 total nods including a pair of first place considerations. Washington and Lee University received the remaining first place vote and 35 total tallies. Hampden-Sydney, ranked No. 16 in the Inside Lacrosse Face-Off Yearbook Preseason Top-20 Poll and No. 17 in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division III Coaches Preseason Poll, returns one of the most touted defensive units in Tigers' history, and will have to navigate through another challenging schedule in hopes of capturing the school's fifth ODAC lacrosse crown. Head Coach Ray Rostan and the Tigers will contend for their first ODAC title since 2001 and first NCAA Tournament appearance since the 2003 season.
