TIGERS PICKED 16TH IN PRESEASON TOP 20 POLL (December 5, 2007) HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA - Head Coach Ray Rostan's 2008 Hampden-Sydney lacrosse team has been selected No. 16 in the Inside Lacrosse Face-Off Yearbook Preseason Top-20 Poll. The Tigers are fresh off a 12-3 campaign in 2007, and return arguably one of the best defensive units in the country this season. The ODAC placed four teams in the poll, with Lynchburg holding the No. 3 slot, defending ODAC champion Roanoke at No. 5 and Washington and Lee University at No. 14. Hampden-Sydney, anchored by a stingy defense, will be vying for their first ODAC title since 2001 and first NCAA appearance since the 2003 season. The Tigers will have to maneuver their way through another challenging schedule, which, in addition to a tough conference slate, will feature two more teams ranked in the Face-Off Yearbook Preseason Top-20: No. 4 Gettysburg (at home, March 1) and No. 19 Cabrini (at home, March 15). Face-Off Yearbook is the most referenced preview guide for men's college lacrosse, and features previews of every NCAA and NJCAA men's lacrosse team, spanning all DI, DII, DIII and JuCo squads. The publication contains rankings, preseason All-Americans, All-Conference selections, strength of schedule analysis, stats and more. www.hsc.edu/athletics- |
