BURKE HONORED AS A 2007 ARTHUR ASHE, JR. SPORTS SCHOLAR

FAIRFAX, VA (July 18, 2007)—Hampden-Sydney’s Kerry Burke (Chester, VA/Thomas Dale) has been named to the 2007 Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sports Scholar second team as awarded by Diverse Magazine.  The recent graduate earns the honor following a standout career on the Tiger soccer team.

During his career, Burke was twice named a team captain and earned Old Dominion Athletic All-Conference honors twice.  Burke received several team awards, including the Player’s Choice MVP and “Hustle Award” in 2005 and the Coach’s Choice MVP in 2004.  The Political Science and History major graduated from Hampden-Sydney in May with a 3.60 GPA.  Burke is now working with the Admissions Office at Hampden-Sydney.
