CARTER, HAMPTON GARNER ODAC ALL-TOURNAMENT HONORS (November 27, 2007) SALEM, VA – Hampden-Sydney sophomore defender Michael Carter (Fredericksburg, VA/Massaponax) and freshman midfielder Matt Hampton (Virginia Beach, VA/Kellam) have been named to the 2007 ODAC all-tournament team after their stellar performances in the event. The Tigers, seeded second in the tournament, reached the tournament semifinals before bowing out in a tough 2-1 loss to No. 3 seed Washington and Lee. Carter, who sat out half of the season due to lingering injuries, came back to play a critical role in the Tigers' defense. Carter started in all ten of his appearances, while his hustle, physicality and intelligence in the back made him a force in the latter stages of 2007, and added much needed depth to an already potent back line that surrendered just seven goals in nine conference matches. Hampton worked his way into the starting rotation late in the season, starting in seven of his 17 appearances. He tallied two assists on the season and was consistent and solid in the midfield for head coach Josh Laux. His steady play was crucial in Hampden-Sydney's late season success.
