MCLEOD NAMED TO ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT SECOND TEAM

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (May 24, 2007)—Hampden-Sydney junior Andrew McLeod (Mandeville, Jamaica/Manchester) has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District second team.  The award is voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). 

This season, McLeod posted an 8-6 overall and 6-3 conference mark in singles competition.  In doubles action, McLeod was 7-6 overall and 4-3 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, earning honorable mention All-ODAC accolades.  In the classroom, McLeod maintains a 3.83 GPA average and is double-majoring in Economics and Commerce and Chemistry.  Overall, the Tiger tennis team posted a 10-6 overall record and were 5-4 against conference opponents, advancing to the ODAC semifinals.

To be eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All-District program, an athlete must be of sophomore academic standing, be a starter or important reserve, and maintain a Grade Point Average of at least a 3.20 on a 4.0 scale. Hampden-Sydney is a member of District III College Division, which includes players from small colleges in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. The at-large team consists of athletes from 25 different sports.
