H-SC TENNIS TIGERS SUCCESSFUL IN ODAC SINGLES TOURNEY Tigers' Moss captures singles title in inaugural fall event LEXINGTON, VA (September 16, 2007)–Hampden-Sydney sophomore William Moss dropped just nine games in four matches to claim the Flight 'A' crown in the inaugural Old Dominion Athletic Conference Singles Championship in Lexington, Virginia. Seeded first in the top flight, Moss defeated freshman and Tigers' teammate Rich Pugh 6-3, 6-0 in an all-Hampden-Sydney final to take the title in the nine school event. The tournament featured three flights, with Flight 'A' of the tournament featuring the top two singles players from each school. Teams' third and fourth seeds competed in Flight 'B' while fifth and sixth-seeded players battled in Flight 'C.' Hampden-Sydney was represented well in all three flights, as Tiger freshman and third-seed Shad Harrell, finished second in Flight 'B.' H-SC freshman Zack Pack, the 2006 Virginia High School League A State Champion, placed fourth in the second flight. Yet another Tigers' freshman, Tal Covington, captured third place in the 'C' Flight, and was followed up by senior Andrew McLeod, who won the main draw consolation tournament following his quarterfinal defeat. Hampden-Sydney will continue their fall schedule the weekend of Sept. 29-30, as they take part in the ITA Tournament hosted by the University of Mary Washington.
