MOSS NAMED ODAC TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

SALEM, VA (March 24, 2008)–After an impressive, undefeated week on the court, Hampden-Sydney sophomore Will Moss (Fredericksburg, VA/Fredericksburg) has garnered ODAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week accolades. Moss, the Tigers' No. 1 singles player, put together an undefeated week of play, going 3-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles action with partner Rich Pugh. The honor is Moss' first of 2008.

Moss successfully navigated through a tough week of competition to earn Player of the Week recognition. He began the week on Tuesday, March 18 with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Ferrum College No. 1 Brandon Brown before pairing up with Pugh to capture an 8-2 doubles win. On Thursday, Moss helped the Tigers to a 9-0 triumph over conference rival Lynchburg by defeating the Hornets' Kristian Richardson 6-0, 6-1 and earning an 8-2 doubles victory alongside Pugh.

In the Tigers' showdown with defending conference champion Washington and Lee this past Friday, Moss led the Hampden-Sydney charge, taking down Generals' No. 1 and regionally ranked Tim Ross 6-1, 7-5, erasing a 0-5 second set deficit to claim the straight-set victory. He and Pugh teamed up to topple Washington and Lee's top duo 8-4, helping Hampden-Sydney score three points against one of the South Region's top squads.

Moss and the Tigers now stand at 5-1 overall and 3-1 in ODAC competition, and will be back in action tomorrow, March 23 at 3:30 pm when they square off with Averett University.
