MOSS CLAIMS THIRD ODAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONOR

SALEM, VA (April 14, 2008)–Following a dominant week on the hard court, Hampden-Sydney sophomore Will Moss (Fredericksburg, VA/Fredericksburg) has been named ODAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the third time this season. Moss helped the Tigers register a critical 3-0 week, which included a 7-2 victory over defending ODAC runner-up and regional No. 16 Roanoke College.

Moss led the Tigers past the Maroons with a 6-0, 6-1 singles win over Roanoke top hitter Hart Callahan, and earned an 8-6 doubles victory alongside teammate Rich Pugh at No. 1 doubles. Moss dispatched of Randolph-Macon No. 1 Thomas Hanes 6-1, 6-0 after teaming up with freshman Pugh to top the Jackets’ pair of Hanes and Dan Doherty, 8-1. On April 9, Moss and Pugh defeated Virginia Wesleyan’s Steven Wright and Devin Crosby 8-6 before Moss ousted Wright in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3.

For the season, Moss is 11-2 in singles, 9-0 in the ODAC.

Moss and the Tigers are on the road today at Christopher Newport University, the final contest of the regular season. The ODAC Tournament begins Wednesday, April 16.
