The Hampden-Sydney ROTC program is an elective course that provides a
combination of academics and important hands-on training. You will be offered
physical and mental challenges geared to help you succeed in college
and beyond. You will learn teamwork and be given responsibilities
such as teaching younger cadets the same skills you have learned. In
addition to our on-campus training, we offer instruction in
adventure training like mountaineering, rappelling, orienteering,
and basic rifle marksmanship. A prospective student can be awarded a scholarship for tuition and fees worth $80,000 over the
course of a four year college career. The scholarships are
awarded by merit to the most outstanding students who apply. In
addition to the scholarship, contracted cadets receive at least $2,500 per year stipend and
$600 per year to defray
the cost of books. The stipend is divided into payments of $250
to $400 per month (depending on class year) paid while you are
in college.
For
its many benefits, Army ROTC requires only a few hours a week.
So it won't interfere with your required college
curriculum or social life. In fact, you will find ROTC a great
place to form lasting friendships.
