Educational
workshops during Freshman Orientation:
Tuesday, August
26, at 10:15 and 11:30am - "Transition and Wellness" - Entering
college marks an important transition from "parental management" to
self-management. Making an active effort to live a healthy and balanced
lifestyle is vital to successfully achieving academic, social, and personal
goals during college.
A
variety of workshops can be presented upon request to residence halls, clubs,
and organizations .... such as the following:
"CAMPUS
BLUES" - Focuses on recognizing the characteristics of depression, with an emphasis on
how students can appropriately respond to the signs and symptoms of depression
in themselves and others.
"OVERCOMING
PROCRASTINATION" .... Learn
how to break procrastination habits and become more motivated for achieving
one’s priorities.
"CREATIVELY
COPING WITH STRESS" - Identify
stressful aspects of your life that are risky to your health, and discover some
positive alternatives for a healthier lifestyle.
"DATING
AND RELATING" - Ways to improve communication in your
relationships with women.
"SKILLS
FOR ASSERTIVE RELATIONSHIPS" - Focus is on how to be
assertive in order to improve relationships and reduce stress.
"HOW
TO DEAL WITH ANGER WITHOUT HURTING ANYONE" - Examines
anger -- and focuses on appropriate methods of controlling and appropriately
expressing one’s anger.
"UNDERSTANDING
JEALOUSY" - Focuses
on how to avoid falling into the jealousy trap in an intimate relationship.
"DEALING
WITH THE HOLIDAY BLUES" - Focuses
on the difficulties which may accompany the holiday season and how to avoid or
manage the holiday blues.
