Tiger Recreation Hiring Process
Tiger
Recreation operations cover three facilities (Fitness Center, Harold G.
Leggett Pool in the Kirby Fieldhouse, and the Gammon Weight Room in Gammon), and
also the Intramural Sports Program.
Our student staff is dedicated to serving the fitness and recreational needs of
student, faculty, staff, and community members of Hampden-Sydney College. The
Tiger Recreation staff is driven to provide a professional environment while
exemplifying customer service and the values instilled at Hampden-Sydney
College. In doing so, Tiger Recreation has implemented a hiring process which
will prepare our student staff with a “real world” job market experience.
How do students apply for a position with Tiger
Recreation?
- Attend a hiring session facilitated by the Tiger
Recreation staff. ARRIVE ON TIME. Sessions will be highly
publicized.
- Pick-up an information sheet and application at the
hiring session or at the Business Office (Human Resources) after the
session.
- Submit the application with a cover letter and a
resume before the designated deadline. Incomplete applications will not be
considered.
- If you are called for an interview, arrive on time
and dressed appropriately. The interview process will be facilitated by
the Director and up to two student Tiger Recreation staff
members.

Positions that may be available:
Facility Attendant – General operations and safety
of the Fitness Center or Gammon Weight Room, responsible for
providing customer service, and responding to the needs of our participants.
Current CPR/First Aid encouraged.
Fitness Monitor – Oversee the fitness areas,
ensuring safety, cleanliness, and lifting technique.
Lifeguards – Must hold CURRENT lifeguard
certification and CPR.
IM Officials -
Seeking
officials for the academic year. Officials receive complete training
and a free t-shirt. Please contact Jane Kupkowski (x7066) for more information.
